24h in Paris : advice and tips
Rich in history, heritage and with its unique identity, Paris is full of real treasures. There are these majestic palaces throughout the capital, these many museums which are among the most visited in the world, and there are these living and independant quarters, so different from each other, with a very special soul that are the charm of Paris . From the Marais to Montmartre, passing by Saint Germain or Pigalle, one feels in every quarter as in a village with its own traditions, its characters, its history and its legends. We have prepared you a little guide to discover Paris in 24 hours by associating the tourist and unusual side of the capital with our favorites and good addresses.
Breakfast Time !
Energize yourself before tackling the discovery of Paris by enjoying a good breakfast on the beach of the Vosges. We recommend the Cafe Carette, a very nice tea room located under the arcades of the square, only flat, the prices are a little high … You will also find a multitude of small cafes pleasant in the neighborhood. Take time to explore the arcades surrounding one of the oldest squares in Paris, known as the twin of the Place Ducale in Charleville Mézières.
Morning stroll !
Do not miss to walk and lose yourself in the streets of the Marais quarter, you will discover the soul of the district. Nearby you can visit the Carnavalet Museum, the Picasso Museum, the National Archives. Passage obligatory by the beautiful rue des Rosiers where you can have the best fallafel of the city (L’as du Fallafel). Leave the Marais to go to the Palais Royal and the Louvre via the Pompidou Center, the Saint Eustache church, Etienne Marcel and the passage of the Grand Cerf with its atypical and unique shops. Enjoy this authentic, lively and alternative place with many street art works at every corner.
Visits time !
Depending on the visits you want to make, you will have to make HARD choices. You will certainly not be able to visit a large museum in just an hour, so you should check online before and choose which part of the museums or collections you wish to discover. This is the case for the Louvre, Pompidou, the Musée d’Orsay and many others. Besides, did you know that you could make an unusual visit to the Louvre at night? Try the experience on Wednesdays and Fridays until 9.45pm.
Get high !
Then take the height by going to visit the towers of the cathedral Notre Dame and enjoy the beautiful panoramic view of the capital. Do not forget to visit the English bookstore Shakespeare an Company, opposite the Seine at 37 Rue de la Bûcherie. As soon as you enter, you embark in an absolutely unique world, you feel out of time. There are thousands of books all stacked in small rooms, and there is a mini cabinet, where you can find a small office, a stool and an old typewriter. In another room there is an old piano on which guests and visitors can play as they like. The atmosphere is very special, it almost feels like a tale of JK Rowling!
Taste Paris !
A pleasant early evening at the Frenchie restaurant, very trendy in Paris where you can enjoy excellent dishes in a pleasant, authentic and lively atmosphere. 24 hours in Paris is very short but you will enjoy your time in the city and you will discover many things !
